Departure from the hotel at 8:00 am, in direction of the capital of wine MEKNES; Driving through olive groves, the region is very famous by producing olives, and olive oil since ever, it was one of the resources that attracted the Romans to invade Morocco since the 3rd century D.C, and chose the city VOLUBILIS to be their capital, it was a BERBER little city, that became very prosperous when it was the capital dominating the caravans trading of sub-Sahara of Africa in direction of Europe. Not for long time when the Vandals and Byzantines invaded the city and destroyed it later. You are invited to go for a trek in between the ruins to discover the beautiful mosaics, and old arcs of VOLUBILIS. not so far from it; MOULAY IDRISS ,a village at the clef of the mount ZERHOUN famous with the shrine of the founder of the IDRISSID dynasty. 30kms further, is the drive to MEKNES; less touristic city with many interesting monuments to visit. the highlights of the city are the BAB MANSOUR, the square LAHDIM, the Ramparts, the MOULAY ISMAIL shrine, the Jewish school and quarter, the SOUANI reservoir and Granaries, and many other cites and things to know about MEKNES history, and morocco, it was on times the capital of the country. Back to Rabat later afternoon expected to be at the hotel by 18:00.
